Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Mary Kom’ Part of Viacom 18 Deal With Eros

Eros Intl., the leading multi-territory distributor of Bollywood films, has struck an agreement with Viacom 18 to handle release of four movies outside India.

First up will be Priyanka Chopra-starring “Mary Kom,” which will release on Sept. 5 on a guaranteed 250 screens. The film is directed by Omung Kumar and is a sports drama about a femme boxer. It will also play at the Toronto film festival.

Other titles include “Gabbar,” directed by Krish starring Akshay Kumar and Shruti Hassan; “Golu Pappu,” directed by Kabir Sadanand, starring Dimple Kapadia, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor; and “Santa Banta,” directed by Akashdeep Sabir and starring Boman Irani and Vir Das.

“Indian cinema caters to audiences not just in India, but globally. This multi-film alliance with Eros will provide the Indian fan base abroad a chance to experience our films that are rich in content and deliver cutting-edge narratives,” said Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures in a prepared statement.

Viacom 18 is a joint venture between U.S. media conglomerate Viacom and India’s Network 18 Group.
